Shane Blackett
Shane Jerome Blackett Born: 3rd October 1982 From: Share "Shane Blackett" on FacebookLuton born centre back Shane, was educated at Cardinal Newman, playing for their school teams, before starting his career at Dunstable Town who were competing in the Spartan South Midlands League.
Blackett worked his way up the Football pyramid with powerful displays in the heart of defence, moving to Arlesey Town, where he, his team mate (and future Hatter) Craig Mackail-Smith were both snapped up by Conference National team Dagenham & Redbridge, managed at that time by future Hatters' manager John Still, ahead of the 2004/05 season.
After three seasons with Dagenham & Redbridge, which culminated in their promotion to League 2 at the end of the 2006/07 season. Shane was sold to Peterborough, once again moving with Craig Mackail-Smith. The next two seasons brought back to back promotions for the Posh, although Blackett was primarily a squad player due to persistent injuries, and following their promotion to the Championship, Blackett was placed on the transfer list by Peterborough.
Shane joined Luton Town ahead of the 2009/10 season, with an interesting twist being that the majority of his transfer fee was raised through the proceeds of a friendly between Peterborough and Luton Town that took place in the off season. The first season in the Conference, Blackett played 31 games across the season, culminating the two legged defeat to York City in the semi final. However, the following seasons, Blackett's game time was greatly impacted by injuries restricting him to just 20 appearances across his final 2 seasons with his local club. Upon the culmination of the 2011/12 season, Shane's contract was not renewed, prompting Shane to rejoin Arlesy Town, before moves to Hemel Hempstead Town, Dunstable Town and St Neots Town.
